The register row has the same columns as the free claims register (Excel). Adjudication isn't on the timeline: it starts only if a party refers a dispute.

Where the rules come from (checked 1 Nov 2026)
- Payment schedule due: Construction Contracts Act 2002, s22(b): the time in the contract or, if it doesn't say, 20 working days after the claim is served.
- Payment due: s14 (the parties may agree the due date) and s18 (if they haven't, 20 working days after the claim is served).
- Notice of intention to suspend work: s23(2)(b) and s24(2)(b), once the amount isn't paid in full on or before the due date; the notice must state its grounds and that it's given under the Act (s23(3), s24(3)). The right to suspend arises if the amount isn't paid within 5 working days after the date of the notice: s24A(1).
- Working days: s5, "working day": not a weekend, Waitangi Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Anzac Day, the Sovereign's birthday, Matariki Observance Day, Labour Day, or the province's anniversary day; and, for ss 18, 22 and 24A (among others), not 24 December to 5 January. Waitangi Day and Anzac Day on a weekend move to the Monday.
- Claim contents: s20(2); Form 1: s20(3) and (4), and the Construction Contracts Regulations 2003, Schedule 1, Form 1.
- Matariki dates: Te Kāhui o Matariki Public Holiday Act 2022, Schedule 1. Anniversary days: Employment New Zealand, "Public holidays and anniversary dates". Dates from 2025 to 2035.
- All Acts read on legislation.govt.nz (Construction Contracts Act version as at 5 October 2023, the latest). Calendar days are counted as calendar days; a contract can define its own working days, so check yours.
